Strawberry Frozen Yogurt
Who doesn't like an ice cold treat on a hot day? Sometimes you feel like ice cream but don't want all the calories, so you choose an alternative that has the healthy added benefit of probiotics instead-frozen yogurt. I didn't have time to go buy some and I already had all the ingredients at my disposal so I created a strawberry frozen yogurt that is sure to please. If you like yogurt you will probably enjoy this frozen treat. The great thing is you can decide how many berries you want to add and if strawberry isn't a flavor you enjoy you can switch it up with another fruit or just leave it plain old vanilla.
Strawberry Frozen Yogurt
recipe by: Julie Hodges
Ingredients:
- 5 frozen strawberries chopped
- 1/2 cup 1% milk
- 32 oz. container of vanilla yogurt (I used Trader Joe's vanilla organic low-fat yogurt)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 -6 oz. bottles of strawberry smoothie (I used 2 bottles of Trader Joe's organic low-fat strawberry probiotic smoothie which was 12 oz. total)
- 1 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/8 tsp salt
Directions:
Place all of the ingredient in a blender and pulse
until smooth. Pour the yogurt mixture into an ice cream maker and churn
it according to your maker's directions. After churning, cover the top of the storage container
with plastic wrap and double rubber bands before placing on the lid.
Then freeze for at least 1 hour preferably 4 hours or more. Serve and enjoy.
