Peanut Butter Reese's Pieces Cookies
I was searching for a dessert to make and gift for Halloween and wanted something kind of outside of the box. I decided on peanut butter cookies which are a traditional cookie loved by many but for some extra added Halloween fun I decided to try adding an extra special treat- Reese's Pieces. I decided to only use the brown and orange candies so I picked all the yellow ones out. Reese's Pieces are the perfect candy to add to these already delicious cookies. You could also opt for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups or M&Ms really any complementary candy will do. Just stir in your favorite candy before baking. If you prefer leave them plain or stir in some oats, either way you can't go wrong especially if you share. They are a deliciously fun unexpected Halloween treat.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In a bowl, beat together shortening, butter, peanut butter, both sugars, and the egg until creamy, light, and fluffy. In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining dry ingredients flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Add the dry ingredient to the creamy mixture. Once combined, gently stir in 1 cup of candy such as Reese's Pieces. Roll dough into balls and place 1" apart on a parchment lined baking sheet. Flatten each cookie by making a crisscross pattern in the top with a fork. Bake up to 15 minutes in a 350 degree oven until lightly browned. Then allow to cool.
