Homemade Flour Tortillas
Homemade flour tortillas are so worth the trouble! Fresh tortillas give a little something extra to your meal. If you have the time to make them, I highly recommend making extras because they will go fast! They can be used for any meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner -even a snack. Leftover tortillas are a good thing since they are great for wraps, burritos, fajitas, soft shell tacos, enchiladas, tossed into soups, eaten with humus, used as a pizza crust, created into desserts, and many other possibilities. The possibilities seem endless. The recipe is below.

recipe by: Allrecipes changes by Julie Hodges
Makes: 24 tortillas
Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 TBSP. shortening
- 1 1/2 cups water
Directions:
Whisk the flour, salt, and baking powder together in a mixing bowl. Cut in the shortening. Add the water and mix until the dough comes together; place on a lightly floured surface and knead a few minutes until smooth and elastic. Divide the dough into 24 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Use a well-floured rolling pin to roll a dough ball into a thin, round tortilla. Place into the hot skillet, and cook until bubbly and golden; flip and continue cooking until golden on the other side. Then repeat. Store leftovers in a sealed plastic bag.
