Robot Cupcakes and Juice Boxes

I saw the robot juice boxes on Pinterest and thought they were cute and I just had to make them for my son to share with his class on his birthday. The juice boxes also inspired me to create robot cupcakes because birthdays must be celebrated with cake right? So I created candy robot heads for the cupcakes and they turned out great! All the kids loved them! They were super easy to make and tasted good too.

Robot Juice Boxes

Supplies:
  • Juice boxes (I used Hi-C but you could substitute with your favorite juice like apple, grape etc.)
  • Starbursts in the packages individually wrapped packages that contain 2 candies per pack or any candy that is square or rectangle shaped like Now and Laters get creative and switch it up if you'd like.
  • Nerds or if gluten free use raisins just check the label to make sure the raisins are not processed in a facility with other food that aren't gluten free. I made one this way. You could swap it out with a candy you like better if nerds aren't your thing.
  • A package of sticky googly eyes
  • tape or glue (double sided sticky tape is awesome for this project!)
  • optional is cellophane bags or zip lock bags to make sure there is no candy casualties
  • optional if using the bags a closure such as twist ties, string, twine, or a ribbon
Directions:

The juice box is the robot's body so use double sided sticky tape or glue and glue on the arms which are Starbursts, then add googly eyes to the nerds and tape or glue on as the head, and last add the feet which is two Starbursts to the bottom of the juice box. These are so easy to make and your kids will love them! The great thing is you can choose what you want to use so if you want healthier go for it by using 100% juice, boxed raisins, and packets of dried fruit or nuts. Get creative and make it your own!

Robot Cupcakes

Directions:

Make a batch of cupcakes doesn't matter if it is a box mix or homemade. Any flavor or color...it's totally up to you. Frost the cupcakes and stash them in the fridge while you work on the robot heads or vice versa make the heads and set them aside and then make the cupcakes. If you are in a pinch and do not have a lot of time to bake then buy some bakery cupcakes and add the robot heads to it. Its okay if they aren't homemade the kids will love them the same and no one will be the wiser. You decide! Just like the juice boxes make them your own. If you don't like my candy choices switch them out for something you do. I created the robot heads. I didn't copy this off the internet this is all me.

Candy Robot Heads for the cupcakes

Supplies:
  • Starbursts (I used two colors but you could choose to use all the colors or even just one.)
  • Smarties or if you don't like Smarties try the Sweet Tart version it just needs to be small enough to fit on the sides of the head. I preferred to have sets of the same color.
  •  sprinkles whatever color you'd like
  •  Airhead Extremes rainbow belts I think these would be hard to replace because they have the stripes and are easy to cut but I guess you could use a fruit roll up.
  • candy eyes I made these close to Halloween so the candy eyes were easy to find. I am pretty sure you can buy them year round though.
Directions:

Unwrap the Starbursts; this will be the main part of the head. Starbursts are a little sticky so you don't need anything to act like glue. The candy will all stick to the Starburst. Place two googly candy eyes on the Starburst head on the front flat part, then two Smarties one on each side of the Starburst, poke a small hole in the top of the Starburst with a small toothpick and place one sprinkle upright in the hole in the Starburst to make an antenna, then take an Airhead Extremes rainbow belt and cut it into a small rectangle and place it under the eyes this makes a mouth. Now you have a cute candy robot for your cupcake. Repeat  for each cupcake and place  the robot heads on all your cupcakes and you will have the cutest little robot cupcakes!
